Evidence
Mission budgets, failure injection, test traceability, and a shared language for engineering decisions.
OpenFirefly is exploring a more compact, diagnosable closed-circuit life-support platform for trained professionals. We begin with evidence, simulation, and non-human bench testing.
Research-stage program. No certified product. Not for human use.
Closed-circuit systems already make long, quiet underwater work possible. The hard part is not adding more intelligence. It is making limits visible, failures diagnosable, and every safety claim traceable.
BlueLoop is our internal R&D program. OpenFirefly is the public research brand.
NOW · M0
Mission budgets, failure injection, test traceability, and a shared language for engineering decisions.
CANDIDATE
A possible diagnostic and logging layer—only if users and regulators confirm independent value.
LONG TERM
A complete compact platform. It remains behind independent labs, certification, insurance, and human-safety gates.
Evidence
before hardware.
We do not begin with an industrial-design promise. We begin with a mission profile, a physical budget, a hazard log, and a way to stop.
Depth, temperature, workload, duration, gas, training, and escape are one system.
Oxygen, carbon dioxide, absorbent, flow resistance, mass, volume, energy, and uncertainty.
Sensor disagreement, power loss, valve failure, flooding, assembly error, and common causes.
Independent review decides whether we proceed, redesign, pivot, or stop.
M0 contains no wearable prototype, no mouthpiece breathing, no pool test, and no open-water test. AI may support research and offline analysis; it will not be a single point of failure or the final safety authority.
05 / 08 / 2026
The first 90 days are for technical baselines, compliance mapping, professional interviews, and non-human bench specifications. The output is a decision—not a launch date.
We are preparing structured conversations with experienced CCR users, underwater filmmakers, research diving teams, life-support engineers, test laboratories, and certification specialists.
